2016, an exceptional year for real estate

With falling interest rates, the number of real estate transactions hit a record high, leaving real estate agents with fond memories of 2016.
"Our network of 840 agencies witnessed an all-time record for the number of transactions, up 15% compared to 2015 which was already a very good year" Laurent Vimont stated during his economic update on Tuesday January 3rd.
Notaries confirmed at their quarterly conference in mid-December that by the end of September, some 838,000 transactions had already been recorded over the year. They projected to hit 850,000 for the whole of 2016, surpassing 2006 and its 832,000 sales. Activity was intense not only in Paris and the surrounding Ile de France region but also in the provinces.
